Nike Pro

There's Nike Pro, and there's Nike Pro Ultimate. Vaguely, both does look the same. Most people will thought that it is a muscle compression garment. But to me, the material is quite thin for a muscle compression suit. Then, after being explained by Wong from Nike, it's more to an undergarment which will keep your cloth dry. A dri-fit clothing, while holds up your muscle.

I was given a Nike Pro Sleeveless to be tested out. First time I wore it is when I ran at Taman Bukit Kiara, I purposely wear the Nike Pro, with my running singlet on top. It feels good as the heat and sweat being dissipated off evenly, but then if you tuck it in (the Nike Pro), you can feel your pants become wet, because of the sweat.

Second time I wore the Nike Pro is at Gunung Jerai Eco Cross Country. I was at panic at that time because I can't wear just running jersey with waterbag as I will get chaffing on the arm. So what I did was, I wore the Nike Pro and then another T shirt on top. I didn't get any chaffing out of it, no nipple bleed. For the whole 45km run.

Now most of the time I wore it during my morning run, as I won't feel that much cold. But still, I wore another singlet or shirt on top of it.

I must say, even though it is thin, it does do the muscle compression thing, but then you need to get the one size smaller from your body. And no chaffing so far.

Jerai Eco Cross Country

"Its not as easy as you think". That's the main slogan of the race. And the bunting were everywhere within the course. Thank you for reminding us dear Mr. Organizer.

It's a 4 member per team. Me, Doc Hisyam, Mejar Kalam, Denis Oakley. Our team name is "Teh Susu". Left KL in about 2000, arrived at Pantai Murni around 0100, set up camp behind Mejar's Naza Kia and sleep until 0600.

And then race at 0800. We din't go to the briefing on the day before, Friday. And we were late in collecting the bibs, but nevertheless, we manage to get our bibs even after some complication caused by the secretariat.

Just like what one of my friend in the Navy (Rahman Pascal) told me. It's a 90% road running, 10% trail. Lucky he told me earlier, manage to inform the team about using road shoe. Thans Rahman.

We finish around 1603. 8 hours to finish the course. As per Mejar and the gang would say, start slow and steady, finish it strong. I didn't intend to run fast on this race, just enjoying it. Take it as a road trip I guess.

First section which is road running for the first 10km, we ran together, actually it's more like jog together. At a steady pace, manage to overtake some other group, even though we are at the last when we started.

Then 4 km run up to Gunung Jerai. Denis was in front, while I was a bit behind, Mejar and Doc was behind, walking up to the peak. Waited for them at the water station.

Then it was a 13km road, downhill. We walked all the way as some of the team member having problem with their knee.

And another 17km of flat running. This is where Mejar told us to run at our pace. So me and Dennis shoot off. While Mejar and Doc walking.

I was detained at the quarantine area as there's not enough team member, 15 mins later, Dennis arrived at the q-area. After waiting for an hour plus, Doc and Mejar finally arrived. Our position is 15. Cool by me I guess.

After that we went for some light meal, and left.

I'm at McDonald while writing this, just finish my Double Prosperity Burger. Buurp..

Alternate lunch

Ever wonder that you want to do something else then eat or sleep during lunch? Ever think that you want to do something new?Something different? Thats what happen to me, to be thinking with Ironman is near, Jerai Eco X, and with my swimming form that need to be corrected. I concluded that I need to do something during lunch time. Hence, swim, run or trail run during lunch time.

Since I join Bukhari's class in Shah Alam, I have been swimming at Damansara Perdana, it has been going on for two weeks something I guess, then an idea pop up into mind, "
Why not running as well?"
So I started running at TTDI, while running I saw the MTB trail, another idea pop up into mind, "Why not I trail run?"
Yesterday I did a trail run, it was too short as the trail is being block by a huge tree.So it was short. So today I did a 5km on the park, and 2km on the trail. Tiring..And today is super hot.

Singapore Marathon 08

Singapore Marathon - Full 42km - 4hours 42min. A slow and steady run. No cramps tho, manage to sprint weakly on the last 1km.

Nice route, flat all the way. Organizers was great. Good supporters/volunteers. A lot of water and the banana was big. A lot of runners..

A lot of tense caused by this race, to me of course.
Can I do it?
Will I cramp at km 25?
Is my training enough?
Is my nutrition enough?
Can my body stand it?
But then, it is all come in to one answer. "I don't know, that is why I need to run this race, because I want to know"

Peed few times during the race, it's ok to over hydrate, it's not ok to dehydrate. Manage to keep my pace, and uh, note to self, do know about your shoe better, as I used a Saucony A2 Fastwitch, which I later learn that it is not suitable in running more than half marathon.

HRM back again

Yesterday went to FJ Benjamin in Menara Pan Global to send in my old Nike Triax C6. I haven't fully used this watch for some while now since it can't detect the HRM. Turns out that the HRM is not functional, forcing me to get a new HRM strap, which cost me RM 135. At least i dont need to buy a Polar, or new HRM.

Today ran 11km in 1hour 9mins (1hour 8min 56sec), just for the sake of testing the HRM. I burnt around 754 cal. And I recalibrate the Nike+ Ipod also, it's been a while since i recalibrate me weight into it. The reading there is around 796cal.

Weight is still at 70kg

HOA - ULU YAM - GOHTONG - HOA

Just finish ride with some new found gang through the BBS. 15 rider altogether. Few old but strong man, all are 60 years and above, and they whack the hills like nobody business.

Started from HOA at 745, I rode from home to the starting location, save fuel, and burn more calories. On flat they maintain speed around 28 to 30kmh. Met Achap at Kompleks Sukan Siantan. Then we regroup again at Petronas somewhere in front there.

First climb is at the Ulu Yam or some people might call it Sg. Tua. At some early point the ride was lead by one Le2a cyclist or I assume he is , Arif is his name, correct me if I were mistaken. Then after that lead by Abg Rahim and Abg Bahri Bangsar until the top.

Regroup at the top then sped off to Ulu Yam Baru to refill water. After that, 20km climb to Gohtong. Simply torturous, the route is basically going up all the way with adding gradient, I stop few times as I need some serious rest.

Regroup again at Nasi Kandar Genting. After that, all way downhill to HOA. I rode some extra mile, accompany Achap to his car at the Kompleks Sukan Siantan.

Total mileage, 113km.

Memblog di luar surau

Imam is citing the khutbah while im writing this.who couldve guess that we could blog everywhere and anywhere.thank god for the creation of gprs and hsdpa. Today is the first time after so long i wore full baju melayu, sampin, the right pants and songkok,as oppose to the year before where i just wore baju melayu and jeans. Today also is my first time where people want to do speech before eidulfitri prayer, which at some point manage to confused me whether is it the khutbah or not. Sudah ada di Ipoh

Balik dari lari Genting terus balik Ipoh. Apa lagi, tido aa dalam keta ngan kat umah. Pastu petang lari kejap, konon nak test route la. Dada sakit, shin pun rasa sakit, ngan hujan lebat lagi. Maka aku dapat buat 3km je lah. Recovery jela kot..

Pagi ni aku rasa elok sikit. So dapat la buat 6km walaupun aku cadang nak buat 5km je.

Mileage so far 174km untuk bulan posa nih

Ramadhan Genting Run.

3rd run up to Genting for this Ramadhan. Crazy or what? Kudos to all crazyheads who still wanna do it. This time the run was organize by Julie (thanks girl). Many new faces, many first timer. Among the new faces was Hsing Ling, Roger, his dad, and Karoline’s dad (they are all related, how cool is that), Keat Seang, Adzim, Lin and Ngae.

This time also Ariff is cycling up while others run and walk. The running party consists of Dino, Julie,Adzim, Zac, Alex, Kar Yan, Kam, Yip, Stupe, Mac and some other people who I forgotten their name, need to check the name list. While the walking party was lead by May Sen followed by Adli, Upiq, Luvi, Lin and another guy who I don’t really know.

For this run Yip will be doing his usual 42km. Followed by me, Alex, Alex’s girlfriend, Kar Yan and later Zac also joins us.

Run starts at 10. No partner for me this week, running alone most of the time. Pacing my self, slow and steady as I want to save my leg for the extra 21km going down, the weather was cold that night. I think it is the coldest ever among the 3 run. It is so cold that I can’t go fast, too fast and I will shiver. And everytime the wind blows I have to stop as it is too cold for me to continue. This so far is the slowest run up to Genting for me.

As I reach the top, I was welcomed by the staff of First World Resort. This one we need to thanks Ngae as he called up some of his friend up in the Resort and arrange hot drinks for us runners. I rested while looking to borrow for a jacket. I don’t think I can survive running down without a jacket. Thanks to Jaja for lending me her jacket.

Running down was hard, use less energy though, but it is hard on my knees and ankle. Maybe my landing technique isn’t that good. I ran down in group, with Alex and the other, except for Yip who went down first.

I didn’t time myself running down, but I guess it’s around 2 hours plus, as we walk and stop for resting. At km 35, my ipod nano died, no battery edy. On my way down I received call from my brother asking where I am. They are about to leave for Ipoh. I think that is around 4 am already. After that I have to leave the group and run faster. Nevertheless, they catch up to me somewhere near the McDonald.

We manage to cam whore at McDonald though, poor Jaja and Luvis as they were waited for me (Jaja uses my car as support car). I think Alex and the rest of the group went to McDonald for a breakfast, while me speeding up to my house.

Mileage Puasa

Erm, setakat ni , berdasarkan Nike+ aku. Aku dah clock 121 km untuk Puasa nih..Tahun lepas pun tak sebanyak nih. Ramadhan tahun lepas dalam 60km lebih je. Alhamdulillah tahun ni dapat maintain distance, lagi lagi dengan join long night run. And banyak lari 10km gak.

Mari Lari naik Genting lagi

19 hb Sept. Lari lagi aku ke Genting. Macam minggu lepas gak, cuma kali ni di organize oleh Steve.

Meet up at 9, start run at 930.

Udara agak sejuk minggu ni, at some point, aku sakit dada sebab sejuk sangat, berapa kali batuk daa..and minggu ni aku pakai reflective jaket, mekasih Julie sebab belikan jaket tuh, nanti aku bayo balik ye (untuk sesape nak beli, kat kedai hardware ada jual, 6 ringgit je).

Lari all the way sampai Gohtong Jaya. Berenti kat 7 eleven beli 100 plus, pastu beli air mineral ekstra, then lari balik ke atas sampai ke Starbucks First World Hotel. On the way nak sampai atas nampak Adzim ngan Lin, jadi fotographer of the night..

2hours 34 min. Itu yang aku tengok kat jam aku aa. Sampai sampai aku dah nampak Azmar lepak kat Starbucks, sebab aku cuak gak, takde runner sampai, atau aku yang tak nampak. Takut diorang meet up kat tempat lain yang aku tak tahu.Yip dah turun la dah masa tu..

Sejuk giller kat atas tuh, walaupun dah tukar sweater and all. Tapi best. Harap harap ada next run. Last kopek sebelum Raya. Kesian kat Zulhassan sebab sesat sampai ke Highland Hotel/Resort, atas tu pun ada Starbucks..

Congrats to all participants..Thanks to all support car driver..

Fresh from the oven - Genting Run

9 pm - Arrive to Genting Sempah, met with Ariff and May Sen, then drive up to One World Hotel.

10.30pm - Start running as I reach McD Genting Sempah around 10.17pm.Can see few people start running edy. Thanks to Julie, she manage to find somebody to drive the Unser up as support car.

- Pace with Julie, safe to say she is my running partner for this run. Keep / maintain our pace to save our leg for any unsuspected climb. Run for the first 10km (until GohTong Jaya) with no problem. Then another 10km. Which we assume the run is like 21km.

-Yip was waayy ahead, which we can see him at the Starbucks. Yusran was running steadily. Manage to catch up with the first starter. The one that walk first. Stupe was wearing like full gear for Adv Racing (gilalah).

-This run is like a one hell of a race event. With support cars at every corner (almost). One guy even pass us water while we are running.

-Manage to arrive to Startbucks at 2hrs 45min. 23km.

-0400 - Sampai rumah

Pictures later, bila dah dapat dari semua orang..

Kudos to all the runners.

just arrived to GS McD, discussed on how to move people down from Genting

early on the run, me and julie was right behind yusran, not until he flew off

Berbekam n Bukit Tabur

Cupping or Berbekam is a treatment process where it sucked out dirty blood out of our system, using cup, jar, bull horns or simply using bamboo.

More info on this site

http://cupping.xaper.com/
http://cupping.xaper.com/about.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_cupping
http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bekam

I did my cupping process on Saturday. I merely testing the method, just want to check what's the fuss is all about. Went to this uncle which was recommended by a lady from my office. It was painful..The air sucking my skin, after that needles were poke into my skin. Like 5 times in 9 different places.Wow..

Anyhow, here's some picture

Went home...

After that, in the evening I went join Julie, Achap, Fong and Akil for a hike in Bukit Tabur in Tmn Melawati. Well, actually I didnt know it is supposed to be a hike. I even brought a newly bought Saucony A2 to that hike. Well my fault actually, when Julie said "panjat Bukit Tabur", I thought as in running like in double hill.

Well, it turns out quite nice. Climbing that hill, never done it in my whole life, and I suddenly got hooked into it. Is this trail running? Is this what I will endure in Perhentian Challenge or Genting Trailblazer? My heart was pumping hard that time, either I'm not use to this climbing thingy (plus my quads hurt like shit) or because of the cupping on the morning.

Thanks Julie and Achap for inviting me. It's been an eye-opener. And I need a trail shoe. Registerd and paid for Genting TrailB but not yet for Perhentian Challenge

Some pics, thanks to Julie for uploading it in her FaceBook

I was trying to run in this fasting season, but then many things would occur, overslept, laziness. But not today. I woke up around 330, and prep up. By 4 start running. I do feel kinda sleepy at times, but uh I just keep on going. dehydrated at times.

Well, 16km in 1hour 50min. Manage to drink 1.5l of water at 7E. After that, the whole day I'm feeling woozy.

Bomb ride it is.

Shazly mailed me few days ago about this ride. HOA to Felda Tranum (which is actually Felda Mempaga). 150km in distance. Well, since this is more longer and challenging then the usual HOA - Bentong, then why not?

Manage to get Julie into this ride..hehe (Met her at Bt Caves, she just did some stair running). And not to forget Fong. Which at first contemplating to join, but then later on she did join.

Meet up at 0700, and climb up somewhere around 0718.It has been long since I climb this hill, never thought that it would be so cold at this time. And I didn't remember how far is the climb.

Anyhow, I just climb without knowing where to stop, the only thing I remember is the workshop. Manage to met up with Stupe and Shazly at the top there, and they decide to go and wait at Genting Sempah's Petronas, while I wait for Julie and Fong at the junction.

Rest and refill at the Petronas. And continue our journey to Bentong. Regroup at Air Panas, and then at Shell Bentong( The one after the highway). After that went straight to Felda Mempaga.

After passing through the Ice cream parlor in Bentong. I tried to visualize back the route to Felda Mempaga, as I have used that route last time in Malakoff Charity ride. But hey, again I failed to remember.

I ride behind Julie as she didn't bring any tubes or phone. Due to my fault also, it seems that I misinformed her that the distance is somewhere around 130km. So I'm the sweeper of the day.

At that moment of time, Stupe and Fong was waaayyy in front, until at some point they went straight pass the food court at the Felda Mempaga (where we all supposed to meet and have lunch). Luckily it's just 5km.

After lunch, the heat is catching up fast. So I myself is like busted most of the way. I slowed down most of the way. Can't even catch up to Fong. Regroup again at the Shell.

After the Shell, is the real Hell. Climb back up to Genting Sempah. It was hot, at some point it was raining, and I am supremely tired. And got nudge by car some more, lucky there was no damage. Julie overtook me there.I nearly bonk but then lucky I got Julie's powerbar with me. Eat it and continue journey. I think I was so slow, that Fong have to come down and search for me. Haiiihhh..

Anyhow, manage to get back safely. And Julie go and picked up Shazly at Genting Sempah.

Journey ended up at 1600 something nearly to 1700. Really need to train there as Shazly told me that will be the training route for IM..

21km yang menjadi 16km

Dah dapat e-mail dari Ishal pasal lari pagi Selasa kat Tasek Perdana. Pada mulanye Kam n Kar Yan nak join, tapi last last minit. Dalam pukul 4 pagi Kar Yan msg aku kata kaki dia sakit. Kam pun ada hal dalam pukul 8 pagi. Maka lari pagi pagi kena la cancel.

Elok la masa tu aku teringat yang Fong nak buat 20km kat Batu Dam, maka aku terus la sms dia, tanya plan dia tu jadi lagi ke idak. Good news - the plan is still on.

Sampai dam dalam pukul 6 pagi. Gila gelap, gila sejuk. Nak jalan kena pakai torch light, Tengah aku jalan sengsorang pegi boathouse, Fong sampai.

Kitorang buat 3 loop split.
Sebab 1 kali loop = 1.6km.
3 loop = 4.8km. Dah dekat dekat 5km

3 loop, berenti minum. Walaupun target dalam 20km, tapi kitorang buat 16 km. Aku seriously dah mental giler dah. Ulang - ulang kawasan sama je. Dah naik gile dah. Bukan penat badan, penat otak. Selamat ada orang lari sekali, kalau idak aku dah giveup dah.

Dapat la kurang kurang 16km pun..

David Goggins

Looking some info on Badwater ultramarathon, but stumble on some nice info.

Ultramarathon.

An ultramarathon (also called ultra distance) is any sporting event involving running longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometers (26.21875 miles, 46,145 yards).

There are two general types of ultramarathon events: those that cover a specified distance, and events that take place during specified time (with the winner covering the most distance in that time). The most common distances are 50 and 100 miles, or 50 and 100 kilometers. Other distances/times include double marathons, 24-hour races, and multiday races of 1000 miles or even longer.

(taken from wikipedia)

Badwater UltraMarathon

The Badwater Ultramarathon describes itself as "the world's toughest foot race". It is a 135 mile (215 km) course starting at 282 feet (85 m) below sea level in the Badwater Basin, in California's Death Valley, and ending at an elevation of 8360 feet (2548 m) at Whitney Portal, the trailhead to Mount Whitney. It usually happens in July, when the weather conditions are most extreme and temperatures over 120 F (49 C) in the shade are not uncommon. Consequently, not many people—even among ultramarathoners—are capable of finishing this race.

Currently, AdventureCORPS manages the competitive race from Badwater to Whitney Portal. The course route is specified, and the race is held annually. The field is invitation-only and limited in size. Demand to participate in the race usually far exceeds available spots. Rules have changed somewhat over the years: afternoon starts have been discontinued; the use of intravenous fluids now disqualifies a runner.

Course support is not provided. Each runner must arrange for his or her own support crew and vehicle. The crew provides their runner with his or her needs, including water, ice, food, gear, pacing, and first aid.

Runners who complete the course in sixty hours receive a commemorative medal; runners who complete the course in forty-eight hours receive a belt buckle. No prize money is awarded.

Current course records are 22 hours 51 minutes 29 seconds (men), set by Valmir Nunes, and 26 hours 51 minutes 33 seconds (women), set by Jamie Donaldson.

In the last few years, 70 to 80 people have competed in each race, with 20-40% failing to reach the finish line. So far there have been no fatalities.

(taken from wikipedia)

This is the same race that ultra marathoner Dean Karnazes went in, but then I stumble into some info regarding another participant, David Goggins.

Running ?!! Huh?!!

I fucking hate running.I despise it. What is so great about running anyhow? That, is what I would say 13 years ago if you ask me about running. Running never would be in my top ten list. It won't be in any of my TO DO list.

I was in form 1 when my dad forced me to run due to my overweight problem, and also because I'm a lazy bum. At that time, my dad is still in the army. He could run everyday in MINDEF. Everyday and also in the fasting season. I always refer him as "orang gila". Every time when he ran with me, he would stop and start walking as I usually is slow and always crying while running(haha). And sometimes he would complain that he didn't break a sweat if he run/walk with me. If my memory serves me well It's a 3km loop, even though I think it's more than that. 5 km maybe.

Can't remember which year of KLIM it is. I did a 10km run with my dad accompany me. Well it's a near death experience, (haha). Mostly walking liao. My dad belanja the whole family a Macdonald because we (me and me dad) finish that race(walking).

Old memories huh.

I start back running as a process of loosing weight, I can't really remember when I did start doing it. Is it 2002 or 2003.After that it snowballed. From loosing weight, I end up in tug of war, which we need to run during training. And I still continue running because wanted to lose weight.

Then at some point I started to join races. I mean like, I have been running for a while now, why not test my self. Smart Tunnel run back in 2007 is my first run. It was like shit. Dehydration, hot. And I wear a long track pants, which in later part becoming quite heavy because of my sweats. Met a dude, a student which I cant remember from where. He intended to join KLIM but 10km only. Well, at first I was contemplated to join but then why not. And I didn't stop since that.

Since that race I have joined Pacesetters and RunnersMalaysia. Met wonderful friends who are also my teachers and inspiration.Uncle Wan, Cikgu Din, Rizal, Kim, Geraldine, Frank, Choi, Ronnie, Pele, Wong Sifu, Jamie Pang, Kak Haza, Tey, Saiful, Abu, Omar Yip. These are among friends which I could listed as there are still many I need to recall.

Nowadays I run because I like to do it. I love the feeling of it. The freedom. The coldness of early morning and yet at the same time, the warmth of your sweat spurting out. With the hint of peace in your head. Most people might said I'm overdoing it, over train. But that's the thing, most of the time I'm not training for anything. I just do it.

And for races, I join not because of winning, maybe some time I just want to see my time. But most of it it's just the pleasure of crossing the finish line.

Well that's just me. Addicted to run.

NOW. If you ask me about running. I would say, I love it.

One thing, if its not because of my dad. I might not be running.Hrm..

Yay, Its FRIDAY..again

Thursday morning. Did a 21km run.All thanks to Ishal for this idea. Well, what can I say, I also are itching to do this run. Joined by Kam and Kar Yan. Start at 530, finish after 2hours 19min (inclusive stop at petronas, walking and crossing Jalan Duta).

Met AJ, Ariff, Ishal, Maysen and some other runners somewhere after Masjid Wilayah.

Kar Yan pace is quite fast, but still manage to follow la.

After that whole day sleepy.Hehehe..

Today did a slow 12km run.

Desaru Tri - Report

Desaru Tri = Mencemaskan
Desaru Tri = Penat macam haram
Desaru Tri = Kepuasan
Desaru Tri = Makan?

Pre-Race

Mekasih bebanyak kepada Kam sebab sudi tumpangkan aku ke Desaru. Siap belanja makan lagi, jasa mu tak dapat ku balas.Pergi sekali dengan Fong, so that makes 3 of us loh. Sepatutnye Jim Manan ngan Upiq join sekali, tapi disebabkan anak memasing masuk hospital, maka tak ikut lah diorang.

Trip ke Desaru dari Setiawangsa amik masa dalam 7 jam gak, termasuk berenti minum, makan, tandas.Sampai Desaru, sempat amik barang (nombor), siap tengok route beskal ngan route lari. Malam tu ikut CK ngan Yusran gi makan kat mana ntah, aku dah lupa.

Malam tu masuk bilik, siap siap kan barang ngan diri untuk race esok. Ouh, rumet gue ialah Kam ngan Kristof.

Race Day.

Bangun ala ala malas bangun je, pastu tak rasa pressure race pun, mungkin sebab race start pukul 10. Dalam kul 730 bangun pi brekpes. Pastu pi amik rim Ksyrium SL dari Shazly (thanks a lot Shazly). Pasang pasang ape sume, kul 9 turun balik letak basikal kat transition area. Pastu gi check out laut yang menderu deru..

Swim = Fun?
Pukul 10, race start. Ombak yang mild gitu membaling ku atas dah bawah. Aku banyak mengasingkan diri dari swimmer lain sebab aku panic, takde ruang nak berenang ape sume. First loop aku memang buang masa banyak sebab aku start slow, jauhkan diri, sesat (buat loop besar), second loop aku rasa ok sikit kot sebab aku ikut betul betul dengan tali buoy tuh.
Swim - 1h 15min

Basikal = Panas macam haram.
Kat t1 aku tengok tinggal berape kerat je beskal. Adei.Takpe, beskal gak macam biasa, blum ape ape aku dah telan satu hammerbar gel. First loop aku terasa amat la letih, sebab 1. aku tak dapat amik air ngan betul, 2. Minum recovery drink masa cycling tetengah panas menambahkan lagi dahaga. Aku tak split sangat masa aku cycling, tapi second loop aku terus berenti isik air, pastu aku maintain kan speed. Ada tempat aku push, ada tempat aku rilek. Jalan bukit bukau seyh..Aku dah mental atas basikal dah, pikir macam tak nak lari je. Rasa macam nak dnf je. Gila..

Lari = Menyamankan
Masa t2, memang aku rehat betul, letih seyh..Minum air recovery kejap. Pakai stokin, pakai Ipod. Memang amik masa aa..Sampaikan aku nampak awek Dino dah kuar, baru aku kuar. Memang lari slow slow ayam, berenti kencing jap. Pastu pace up sikit all the way. Ok la, aku ingat psycho macam KOTR tapi kurang aa, sebab jalan ber loop. Pastu boleh agak mana jarak ape sume. Later part lak hujan..huuu bessttt...Lega, nyaman, tak terkata aa..anyhow, ending pun hujan...
Lari = 2jam 04min, tapi official time = 2jam 11minit (main main lagi kat t2)

Malam tu CK ajak makan lagi, maka layan la makan walaupun kepala dah pentoi semacam..wuhuu..Dapat gak layan barang Razani, murah murah bebb..

Post race..

Nak citer ke, balik la ...ape lagi

Desaru Tri

Desaru DONE!! At last. Gila takut aku ngan distance Half IM nih. Lagi lagi part swim.

Swim : 1hour 16min
Bike : 3hours 7min
Run : 2hours 11min

Walaupun aku rasa run tu 2hours 4min. Gila lama aku lepak kat transition 2. Minum air, pakai stokin, pakai ipod. Pikir nak pakai fuel belt ke idak. Last last dah nampak awek Dino gerak baru la aku terhegeh hegeh nak lari. Itu pun kena stop jap, tekencing..

Swim, perghh..ada rasa best sebab ombak. Tapi penat gak aa, first time buat 2km. Trenin malas, padan muka.Memula dah masuk dalam group reramai, tapi aku yang keluar, panic giller aku ..Kiri kanan, depan belakang semua kaki..Janji swim settle.

Bike, herm..Lap pertama tu penat gak aa, ngan air tak boleh nak capai, asyik terjatuh je cawan.Second lap aku terus berenti, refill terus, habis citer.

Selamat part last cycling tuh dah hujan sesikit, pastu masa lari dah hujan terus. Best...

Ngantuk ngantuk..nanti ku buat report lagi detail..hohohoho

ADIDAS KOTR Shah Alam - Sucks

ADIDAS KOTR is pretty bad. Management wise that is. But the route is challenging.

It was bad even at the bibs/jersey distribution day. Slow and saw many customers (registered runners) arguing with the management due to some (weird) reasons. Such as, name is not on the list, jersey no size, IC tak betul (What??).

I was so frustrated because I have to queue up like 1 hour plus as there were like 4 people in front of me, showing that how slow is their process. Checking the name list, check the IC, ask the participants whether their IC is correct or not. One question that is funny is "Adik hafal tak IC adik?"

On race day it self. Mileage notice poor? Heck, they even put the wrong mileage notice at the wrong place. Imagine they put the "Another 12km" at two different place. If I'm not mistaken, at KM8 and another is at KM10+.

At water station (if I'm not mistaken, KM14 or KM15). Got no water, so I was force to buy drinks at Shell across the street. (Lucky I bring money). Some more if you guys realize. There's no medic until few kilometer from the finish line and also I must say. Traffic control is pretty bad.

Well, at least I finish the run. 2hours 21min. Not my best time, but I guess, I was playing around also. Chatting with other runners, stopping at two petrol station to buy water.Happiest part is that my dad finish his 10km run in 1hour 15 min.

Not many pirate runners, or maybe they are too fast. The only pirate runners I manage to identify was Ishal, Azwar and Fong.

Clocked 22.41km today, and on the evening did a recovery run of 7km.

I run with peace

Few days left to KOTR. Been running easy today. Did a 10km on the morning. 2.58 km in the late evening. And another 5km in the night. All easy running.

Manage to run 10km with the Lunar Trainer (LT) in the morning. Got chaffing in the left leg. Somewhere in the Achilles tendon.
The LT is a bit lighter then my current Adidas Gazelle.

First time I ran in the LT was on that same day Nike given it to me, but then on that day, I was busy catching up to others. So I didn't realize much. Today, I tend to feel the shoe.

Just like I said earlier, first impression about that shoe is how light is it. I was thinking, if the trainer is this light, how will the racer shoe will be?

Anyhow the shoe is soft, plushy, it's like stepping on a marshmallow. I would like to say the video where that person wrapping the feet with pillow is quite accurate as what I experience with that shoe.

And after few steps you can feel like your feet is imprinted to that sole. The cushion shapes/wrap up to your feet shape.Making your feet stagnant.

One thing about this shoe, I feel it mostly when I do uphills is that in some way it is heavy. HOW? Well every step you make, it seems that the shoe absorb all the force from your feet making there's no force to bounce up the shoe. It's like a tennis shoe that wont bounce. So you have to use extra force to raise up your leg. (Not that heavy lah).

In the end I do feel tired, even though it is just a 10km run. A bit tired on my legs though.

Maybe, just maybe this is called a trainer shoe. A trainer shoe that is not heavy, but it becomes heavy as it is using your own weight/force against you. So aikido-like.

That run is in the morning. In the evening, even though it is raining. I manage to run 2.58 km at Batu Dam. After that I stop, then during night time, I was join by my training partner to do a night run, 5km only.Slow and easy

Tuesday, 5 August 2008

Run, run and run..

Took the day off for today. Didn't do anything much. Run 14.48km in the morning, slow pace. Manage to cover it in 1hours 40 min. Then after that just sit in front of the computer, chatting and all.

1530, went to Nike Sales office for the new shoe (LunaTrainer) briefing. See so many familiar faces. Stupe (thanks man), Frank, Jamie, Geraldine and Loke. Not to forget Emma, Julia, Sam Pritchard and Randy. Kimberley also there. Azura the hostess and Rudy from HitzFm were also there. One guy Shahruddin, a marathoner. Carmen. And some faces that I never met before.

Well basically its about the shoe, Lunar Racer and Lunar Trainer. About the technology and the function of that shoe. Today, we were given Lunar Trainer. Which surprisingly is light for a training shoe. Heck, it is even lighter then my Gazzelle.

Video and Interview were shown. Then they give every each of us a pair of the Lunar Trainer shoe to test out lah. 5km run..

Gila laju they all running. 4.1km in 20-22 mins.

After that Drink at TGIF. Then Nike give everybody a Sports Band. And balik..

I went to Siantan Swimming Pool for a swim.

P/S, thanks Siva for the sports Kit..

Common Saturday and Sunday

Weekends.
Saturday.
Based on Letuang mailing list. There's two group will be cycling separately with their own agenda. Shazly's team, will do a 90km ride and Run (Brick). While Chief Kutu's team will do a Bt 18 - Klawang ride. I joined the CK group. Hill work babeh.

Gerak awal dari rumah, tapi sampai cun cun je.

Yang menghadirkan diri.
1. CK
2. Jaja
3. Don Haidar
4. Fong
5. Laif
6. Bacin
7. Bahari
8. Aku
9. Fairoz
10. Alex
11. Jason

Smooth sailing dengan take off speed 30kmh ditarik oleh Bacin. Naik bukit pun tak stress sangat hari ni. Slow slow sembang ngan Bacin. Fairuz cramp halfway atas sebab sebab yang tak dipastikan. Reach on top of Perez dengan Bacin, pastu Fong, disusuli Laif..pastu aku tak ingat dah.

Turun macam biasa, lajuuu..

Makan kat Balai Bomba.

Balik pun keje mengejar Laif yang laju. Naik Perez balik pun takde la sesusah dulu. Bila dah sampai Perez, Bacin terpaksa balik cepat sebab perut meragam.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahad

21km run on morning. Arrived at 0530, since I've been late for few times edy. So I thought I'll be early today for a change. Nobody turns up, forcing me to join Keat Siang, Randy, Sam Pritchard, Julia and Emma. Start around 615, try to pace them but somewhere in the route, I have to take a leak. Making me unable to follow them. They are quite fast.

First 10km is also quite fast as I'm trying to chase after them. I don't really know how long they've waited me at the Petronas Hartamas. After that, AJ arrived. But at first I was with the Randy group, after that I chose to slow down as they are so damn fast. So I pace up with AJ, all the way until Tasek Perdana. Try to slow him down by talking, but not succesful. Haih.

Race yang belambak lambak

Kenyir Tri.
Ipoh Century
PD Tri.

3 race dalam Julai. Gila banyak habis duit..

Kenyir Tri agak best. Tempat dia best, crowd dia pun best. Meet a lot of friends, and able to mix around with the Tri Community. Tune Money Tri Team debut also in Kenyir Tri.

Basically I was last from the water part. Hehe. Gila longlai bila kuar dari air. Letih beebb..Padan muka, sapa suruh Breaststroke all the way. Tapi masa cycling ngan lari dapat la potong dua tiga orang. Makes me not the last lah..And Switheasy ku berderai masa run part, selamat nike+ punye footpod tu tak rosak lagi..haduuhh...

Great experience.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Century Ride

Thanks to Laif n Azmar, aku dapat transport ke Ipoh. Thanks to Chief Kutu (Fadzil), for collecting our goody bags.

Laif, Azmar and Curve lepak kat hotel mana ntah. While Ck, Jason, TSB, Jaja and Ishal stayed at my house.

Were expecting Shazly and geng around 3 - 5am, but they were late for some reason, end up meeting at the race point precisely at 7. Ouh yeah, the whole gang from my house cycled up from Bercham to the starting point. Which I would say a good 10km.

Well, finish the race in 5hrs35 min.

Hohoho

Kemalasan Tahap Chipan

Selamat sejahtera En. Blog.

Lambat and 10km

Woke up late today, 650. My plan today was cycling to Tasek Perdana and do a 21km. But then, at 0430 it was raining hard. And I accidentally deactivate the alarm. Next thing I knew was my mom woke me up for Subuh. DAMN.

First person I tried to call was Abu, then Fairoz, luckily he bring the phone while running. They were halfway thru Double Hill. Gila la aku lambat.

Reach there about 8. Then I saw Upiq running back to his car. Chatted with him and Shilpa for a while, and also with Uncle Wan. Then I off for a 10km, see whether I could catch up to Abu and the gang.

Planning to clock around 10km. Did a double hill but at the last part, I didnt go thru Istana, instead I went back to Parliament Road and straight to Tanglin. Ok la, clock around 10.34km.

Then I learn that they did a 20km with CK. Then have a breakfast at Tanglin, later then AJ and Abang Bangsar join us.

BT 18 - Klawang

Sampai carpark BT 18 agak lambat. 15 minit lambat. Semua dah ada kat situ. Mak aih, ramai la pulak. CK kasik tahu aku ada la jugak dalam 17 orang. Gila best. Antara yang ada

1.Laif
2.Dicky
3.Azmar
4.Syaaban
5.T.Zafrul
6.D.Bernard C
7.AJ
8.CK
9.Kharis
10.SK
11.Jaja
12.Upiq
11.Jason
12. Kawan Jason (aku lupa nama daa)
13.Aku
14. Abg Bangsar(lupa nama gak, haha)
15. Abu
16. Saiful
17. Fairoz

Jalan macam biasa,
dari titi ke simpang tekala/perez (10km)
dari simpang ke puncak perez (8km)
dari puncak ke TITI (14km)
dari TITI ke K.Klawang (20km)

Jalan macam biasa, tapi tayar aku pancit dua kali masa naik Perez, turns out, aku nye rim tape, tak diletak bebetul, dah kali kedua tu baru aku letak duit seringgit dalam tu, so ok lah. Takde pancit lagi.

Aku dibantu oleh kawan Jason, yang mana second time tayar aku pancit, dia terjatuh masa nak un-clip kasut dia. Isk, kesian lak aku. Menyusah kan mamat tuh. Dah tu, tiub aku tak cukup panjang, selamat dia sudi menukar tiub ngan aku. Thanks man. Tak pasal menyusahkan anak orang. Pikir nak balik sebab pikir akan bocor lagi.

Erm, susah betul nak habis kan Klawang nih. First time buat, takde tenaga sebabkan ceret beret. Second time tayar pecah. Sekarang problem ni lak (Leong, aku suruh tukar rim tape, taknak, kan aku dah susah nih). So aku nekad, nak buat gak kalau tayar aku pancit balik, aku mintakkan kawan Jason tu pegi kat team and sesapa tolong la pickup aku. Jalan dulu...

Aku ngan dia panjat sampai ke puncak, tapi dah takde sape kat situ. Pamkan tayar, sebab pressure rasa macam kurang. Pastu teruskan jugak. Terus turun sampai TITI, lepas tu maintain 35-37 ngan kawan tu, semata mata nak kejar orang lain, tapi tak nampak gak. Assume diorang sumer kat Petronas K.Klawang. Tapi dah sampai situ baru tahu diorang ada kat kedai makan dekat Balai Bomba. - Stop and Makan-

Alhamdulillah, naik balik ke Perez lebih bertenaga dari dulu. Takde sign nak bonk ke ape. Berenti sebab tayar AJ pancit, then lagi satu sebab kat mana ntah ramai ramai nak mandi.

Sambung macam biasa sampai ke Carpark. Nice ride and panas.

Gila respek kat DBC, Upiq, T.Zafrul sebab buat benda gila ni first time and habis.

Thank you kat sumer yang lain, kalau ride sorang mental wuu. Ride reramai make it look easy.

Hey YOU!! Let's run to office will you.

It was Wednesday when the idea (running to office) popped into my head. Just like a big BLING!!. Been cycling for 2 weeks(off and on). Distance from home to office is 22km, doable. Consider as LSD (Long Slow Distance) run training.

Collected the Garmin Forerunner 305 from Adzim (Adzim, I owe you man) on Thursday night.

Woke up at 345. Start running at 430.

Road is clear and it is cool. Questioning my insanity on the first km. But as I got into rhythm, I don't care less other then reaching the office within 2hrs 30 min. Running with backpack is not comfortable as I thought, but then after a while got used to it.

Stop at first 5km to buy 100 plus, and 2 drinking water. (Bukit Setiawangsa)
(10)Second 5km stop at Esso Keramat because I'm hungry, buy a snickers and drink.Eat a quarter of Snicker
(15)Third 5km at Kg Baru. Just realize that I over drink the water (Habis sudah satu botol) and I'm still thirsty.
(20)4th 5km, I'm somewhere on Sprint Highway, just past the Bangsar junction, and I'm headed to Seksyen 16 PJ. Did stop at Shell somewhere in Damansara, right after Jalan Semantan. Bought a 100 plus.

Arrived at office around 7.10. It's a 2hrs 45m run, plus stop to buy drinks, crossing, check the bag.

Felt sleepy most of the day. Tired and all.
Route will post later. Need help from Azim to upload the data.
Will I do it again? HELL YEAH.

Accidentally clocked a 90km++

The day start at 0430 with a ride to Shell near to Bkt Antarabangsa. Shazly pick me up and we went to Damansara Height waiting for T.Zafrul. And then we start riding when then D. Bernard join us. We did some rounds and then after that I went to my office as usual.

Then later in the evening, join the Tuesday PCC group ride. Then as usual, ride back home.

Arrived at home around 12. And I was surprised to see that I clocked 90km.

Either my meter busted, or is it for real. Anyhow I'm damn tired. Wont be cycling on Wednesday

Cycling to work

There's piece in the Sunday Times. About Bike Boutique, and Ariff who ride to work. (Click the picture to make it bigger)

There's also Azmar(cycle from Semenyih to Jalan Ampang) and Shazly(cycled from Bukit Antarabangsa to Damansara Heights). And I think why not me. It's not that far, can be consider as training also, and know what! Can come early to office and save some money on petrol. YAY.

Today is my second day cycling from home to office, which is about 20km+. Start off at 530am arrive at office around 605, then quickly take a short bath. Ok la I guess.

My first day of cycling to work is on Wednesday. That day I start off at 5 and reach the office around 550. But at that day also, I cycled to Bike Boutique after work to meet up with Ariff and did a 4km run, and a swim (plus Daniel and some guy). Did a free lesson with those guys. Thanks, very much appreciate it. Then cycled back to home. Arrived somewhere around 11. Damn sleepy that time.

Return trip is around 40-50km. No problem in going to office, main problem is the home trip. A lot of cars. Haih

Ordinary typical week

Target this week is to run as many as possible. But then mr. diarrhea and mrs. rain came along, making this week is not so productive. Manage to do 3 runs so far, 1 swimming. Selamat wa cuti itu Isnin.

Monday did a painful 11.99km in 1h30mins. Talk about slow. Lost of energy again, that's what happen when you sleep the whole day and suddenly decide to run. But then, weird thing is before this, when I work in shifts I always do this kind of thing. Heck I even run 8km twice per day. Ouh I miss the old days.

Wednesday 10.56 in 1hour 6 mins. And today (Friday) 11.23 in 1hour 12min.

Thursday night, swimming at Bukit Jalil with Azmar. Did a 700m I guess. REALLY need to brush up on my technique.

This week did a leg raise as shown in PM1 blog. 15x3 every morning. And I do feel great at my abs. Tight and stable.

22km run and a wedding

Start run at 6 something, with Fairos, Abu and Abg Md Noor. I'm supposed to start at 5, but then there's Ebay to blame.Bidding at things. It's been a while since I did a 20km run here in Lake Garden. Everything went well, cold weather. No ceret beret. The route was L.Garden - Hartamas - Double Hill. Met AJ on somewhere after Petronas Hartamas. Oh yeah, at that point of time I was running alone. Upiq planned to run until some overhead bridge right before Plaza Damas. I don't know where is Fairos, Abd Md Noor and Abu, if I'm not mistaken they're gonna do double hill today.

Since it's been awhile after I last ran at this route, I drink my self 2 can of gatorade. And buy my self a 500ml mineral water for the journey. Sip by sip the mineral water finish halfway during double hill. Which is ok I guess. Somewhere at the palace before Tugu Negara I felt week, and so I eat my small bar of Cloud 9. And surprisingly it helps. Yay.

Buy myself another can of 100 plus at some shop in Tugu Negara. Right when entering Lake Garden I saw AJ went off in his car. Wave at him while wondering how in the world that this guy came here first. Saw Upiq, and he told me that AJ arrived Lake Garden 10 minutes before me.

Joined Abu, Fairos, Abg Md Noor at Tangling Food Court for a Drink. Then took a bath at the public bath house in Lake Garden. After that straight to Shah Alam, picking up friend of mine - Hazwan. Then straight to Sungai Besar, which I believe is a place right before Sabak Bernam.

bt14-Kuala Klawang (The Bluek Version)

Bt 14 - Genting Perez

Nearly puke, diarrhea, and hills. Nice combinations huh. The morning starts with ceret beret, which woke me up earlier than expected. After that, packing up and meet with Bacin and Dicky at bt14. First 7km was fine (from community hall bt 14 to bt18), another 10km(bt 18 bridge to tekala-perez junction) also was fine. But as I climb to Perez, my heart beat going extremely high, I can feel the pulse up in my baldy head. Never in my life something like that happened. Rest for a while and then climb up as usual, but a bit slow than last time. I don't know, just feeling a bit tired. Lack of electrolyte I assume.Time kasih ceret beret.

Genting Perez - K.Klawang.

Virgin to this route. Mostly it was downhill, some few killer climb (lagi lagi aku letih dan tak bermaya). Bacin and Dicky waited me at some bridge near to Hutan Litang. The plan is to breakfast and refill at Pekan K.Klawang, but since they see me at a not so good condition, we all get our breakfast somewhere after Pusat Pemulihan Dadah Jelebu (I guess). I drink 2 can of 100 plus, eat Maggie Goreng. And I'm good to go climbing that treacherous hill(or so I thought).

K.Klawang - Genting Perez

Letih macam sial, peluh macam hanjing, no energy in my leg, as Dicky and Bacin would say. I have bonked. Right after the bridge, I was actually trying to survive the hill. Everytime I stop for rest, my body shaking. Drink a bit, and go on. It's like stop and go most of the way, rest when I can't climb. There's time that I thought of hitch a ride, letih baiiii...But I reached the top and meet up with Bacin and Dicky.

Genting Perez - Bt 14.

Ride was smooth, still feeling tired. Some where in Kg Jawa we stop so I can replenish my electrolytes and H2O. Then continue to bt 14. Manage to stumble with Shazly.

After the ride, I went straight to the doctor. Huahuahuahuahua

RMAF - Gazelle

I ran using my gazelle. And to my amazement, I didn't get any blisters. The sock is wet. But there's no blisters at all. Imagine running at 21km and no blisters. Nipple got chaffed lah. But not at the feet area.

And I did realize the shop does not grip enough on the road. Wonder why.

And yet again I ran

Lack of training. That's what come into my mind yesterday when doing the Bike - Swim - Run simulation at Putrajaya with Steve, Azmar and Kam. And some more I didn't get enough sleep as there were a lot of mosquitoes in my room yesterday, but manage to woke up fresh lah.

21. The number keep popping out in my mind as I drive to pickup Kam and Azmar. And to add up to my amazement, the air force provide us runners busses to send us to racing point from parking lot. Nice huh.

Race started with a bang, the first 2km we were running on a runway, airfield runway and the organizers were kind enough to lit up the route by shooting up flares/fireworks. Many waterstation along the way tho.

Km 0 until km 15 was ok, after that body started to shutdown slowly, I can feel my leg gone tired, semi dragging (gatal tak nak training, padan muka). Manage to finish the run in 2hrs 6 min.

Malakoff CR - The Blog

Malakoff CR - Day 3

It's day 3, and I have doubts that whether I will suffer or not today. Never did a 3 day long ride. The longest is just 2 days. Even that, the second day I kinda suffer.

Flagged off from Asrama Rakan Muda somewhere at 730ish. Weather was superb on the first 110km (40km - 40km - 30km). Its on the third stop that we have lunch. Last 40km is a bit harsh because of the road construction. Other then that, it is mostly flat. And we maintain a 25km - 30kmh pace.

So it was 40km-40km-30km-40km. On the second 40km and third 30km, most of the time we were pulled by Trengganu small cyclist, age was around standard6 - form 4, and they were bloody fast. Everytime they sprint I need to speed up until 52km to catch up with them.

Temperature was not hot, even at someplace you can see fog.Scenery was AWESOME. Use the inner road from Kemaman to Kerteh, but manage to ride along the oil refinery, which I must say again and again, the architecture is amazing. Route was mostly flat but there were hills between Kemaman and Kerteh, and even we have to avoid cow dungs.

Last stop was at Pantai Burok Beach Resort. Took a bath, (Thanks AJ for the room), dinner with the Malakoff staff, then take a night bus at 11pm.

Malakoff CR - Day 2

Torturous second day. Flagged off from Hotel Sri Malaysia Temerloh. Keep a constant pace of 25kmh. Our stop is at 45km - 45km(lunch) - 20km(stop to refill, panas beb) - 20km - 45km (end).
Were join by many under age cyclist, as I would like to say. They are supremely young, range from standard 6 - form 4. And coached by school teachers, who I understand one of them is a national cyclist. But still there are many volunteer who would coach these youngsters. I was told it's a culture here in Trengganu for people to cycling. Old men, young men, boys or girl.

Anyhow, today was hot, DAMN hot as I would say. Plus with chafing, couldn't ride with ease, as it was pain in the ass literally. Mostly reposition the ass or stand cycling. After the lunch stop, we still need to stop as it was too hot to continue. But after that the temperature cooled down, and we continue on.

Stop at Rakan Muda Hostel. Satar was delicous..haha
