a friend from office called, asking howd i do. the only reply that i can give is a long continous laugh, which i thought that kind of question is kind a funny given in a state where im in right now. let see, muscle sore in my quads, freaking hurt when im climbing stairs, muscle sore in my shoulder, i can't lift my hand straight up.i would say that im not in a good shape.yeah.but its just funny to be asking a out of shape guy that kinda question, it seems like a joke to me.haha..
ive been doing nothing for today, sleep, eat, watching some movies, chatting in the net, avoiding calls from office. yeah kinda resting with the best way possible.and yeah re read my favourite book all time. ultramarathon man (dean karnazes).
totally resting off, recovering from the kl-ipoh , ipoh-kl rides that were done with some crazy minded people who i think dont have anything to do on their weekends.haha, joking.if im not mistaken, we coverd like 410 - 415 for two days.my cyclometer kinda break down somewhere during the ride, so i dont know much.the speed, the distance. its like sometime it register all the distance and sometimes not.
so..yeah. those crazy minded people are, abu, saiful, fairuz, steve and me. and not forgetting bro yusran that join us on sunday.
we started off from ttdi at 8 o clock. going thru ttdi to damansara utama, going some housing area and we make our way to sungai buloh, and to kuang, using some old roads in the estate and voila, we ended up somewhere behind at some cement factory in rawang.and from rawang we go thru the jalan lama. the scene, is darn nice. go thru the estate is for me adventorous.lucky for us the weather at that time is all cloudy until the cement factory, where it starts to rain. after rawang its all ok. nice sunshining weather all the way. not hot but just nice for a long distance trip.
our first stop is somewhere in kuala kubu road, a petronas station. fill up some water, me myself plug in my ipod, and on we go. next stop, tg malim, which is roughly 50km away from that place.
the speed all the way is average 22-25km/h. and abu got punctured near our next stop, which is a mamak shop somewhere just after upsi. i ask for a rojak but then they dont serve rojak, so i just go with mee goreng ayam, while gulping 2 cans of hundred plus.stop for 30 mins i guess. after that of to bidor.
ouh i wish i mounted a video cam on me helmet. no word can describe the trip from there to bidor. it's just nice, with the song playing on the ipod. i was cycling and saiful ask me to go first. i was enjoying the road. so calm. the momentum is there until i didnt realize that im on the heaviest crank and i was on 40-45 kmh. then i chose to stop somewhere before bidor. refill my hydration bag, bottles and gulp up a hundred plus. continue slowly while waiting for the rest.i was a bit too fast, kinda broke the 25km/h rule.so then i could see abu and saiful. we cycle along for a while, chatted and again i broke off and waited for them at bidor curry house.got myself a rojak.finally..later i learn that steve got some problems with his backwheel bearing. thats why they slowed down.so next stop after that is some bike shop in tapah.
we stopped at tapah i think nearly to an hour, the chinese guy grease up steve's bearing instead of changing them, fairoz got his shifting problem solved up and yeah, steve change his back tyre. then off we go.
steve took us using some route in some estate, take a dip in lata kijang, and end up in jeram. yeah, from tapah to jeram using some back alley way. and uh because of the dipping in lata kijang, we start of from there around 645 and it starting to get dark. and another problem pops up, steves crank suddenly got loose, for a while he can paddle and the thing dropped just in front of a cemetery, of all places huh.and it was dark, we have to rely on saiful's handphone and my torchlight for the lighting.steve temporarily screw up his crank so that we can survive to the next bike/motorbike shop to tighten up the hex screw. we manage to find a motorbike shop and tighten up steve's crank after that steve ask us to go first
after jeram, it was a stretch of darkness before we reach gopeng. and a torchlight is not enough, it is still dark, with all the buzzing lorries and busses. damn it is frightening. note to self, equip a lot of lights on your bike just like those rally cars.
eat some maggies at gopeng gas station. usually i dont eat maggie but heck im hungry.who cares!!from gopeng its just straight all the way until i reach home in bercham, while the other went to abu's house in ,meru. it was 955 pm. i heard that steve reach tambun in at 1230.
===================================================================
Next day, sunday, we started at 8 from mcdonald gunung rapat.steve didnt join us because of his bike problem, instead there is yusran.we started off with a 25km/h and then suddenly they went out at 33km/h. suddenly i came to realised that my right shoulder is giving out.damn!!at first abu planned to stop at tg malim, but after that i requested from abu that we stop at every 40km.
the trip going back to kl was hellish, not to the rest, but it is for me. damn hot and my shoulder was aching and i cant go as fast as the day before. i was the last of the pack, double damn.i told abu if i cant made it i would call up my parents and pick me up. it's abu who comfort me to go on with the trip and we will end it up together. THANKS ABU. we stop a few times, i cannot recall the places. i think i kinda bonk at slim river, the only person that was infront of me at that time was fairoz. we stop at slim river rnr station, i check on my foot, iced my shoulder, then we go.22km more to tg malim, then at km 11, my tyre got punctured. triple damn.
i was so exhausted when we reach the stop at tg malim.after that even though i eat and all, my body was to weak, i can't even catch up to these guys, they said and i believe they were going 25km, my meter broke remember..roughly 10km after tg malim i was dead alone cycling, enjoying the scenery. right at the kuala kubu road sign board, i stop. too tired to go on. rest lah i think.then suddenly a guy came, from afar i though it was steve. mountain bike with a bags. as he came near i realise that is not steve nor steve's friend.he was hungry, so i gave him my power gel. and so i cycled behind him slowly as he was searching for a diner. he need to eat he said. and so we stop at kuala kubu rnr.
Turns out that this guy have been cycling all the way from holland, and its been 9month 2 weeks, spending around 5000 euros and he still got few places to go. how cool is that huh.treat him a fried rice and two cokes.
and so i continue my journey. instead going straight to rawang, i went through ulu yam bharu which will cut the journey until batu caves. the killer part is the climb before sg tua or people prefer to call ulu yam, i did that slowly, steady but slowly and finally able to climb it and straight through batu caves.
the next tricky part is how to get home from bt caves to lembah keramat. there's a way going thru sri gombak, danau kota, go along jalan pahang, wangsa maju and i can get to lembah keramat. or i can go through mrr2. i chose going thru mrr2.
i reach home about 7pm.damn tired.hahaha..
mr holland cycling guy who i think your name is Cheers. i bid you good luck in your quest.i think this conclude my little so called adventure.
